Orissa communities unite with the Micro Insurance Academy (MIA) & Madhyam Foundation to develop community-based health insurance

The partners hosted a two day consultation on Community Based Micro Insurance in Orissa’s capitol, Bhubaneshwar. This event brought together 22 community organizations from across the state. These organizations were provided with a thorough overview of the MIA model of micro insurance and given an opportunity to share their experiences with insurance and discuss the needs of their communities.
After the two day workshop, all 22 organizations expressed an interest in beginning Micro Insurance Units in their respective coverage areas. The path to implementation is now being paved in coordination with local and international stakeholders.
Madhyam Foundation is a state level development support organisation which specializes in working with small and second tier NGO-MFIs in improving their governance, management practises, MIS while increasing outreach and portfolio.
This July, the Madhyam Foundation and the Micro Insurance Academy (MIA) conducted a workshop to launch an exciting new project to bring micro health insurance to poor communities in the state of Orissa, India.
