Volunteering & Internships

Volunteering

The Micro Insurance Academy is willing and able to involve volunteers, on a full- or part-time basis, to advance our cause of promoting community-based micro health insurance.

Volunteers wishing to help further our activities are welcome. We seek individuals with interests and skills in a broad range of areas such as fund raising, communications, networking, didactics & pedagogics, fieldwork at the grassroots level, as well as more formal insurance expertise (e.g. insurance marketing, actuarial sciences, accounting, claims processing, IT, legal aspects, regulatory compliance, public relations etc.)

You can volunteer in-person at our head-office in New Delhi, or remotely from anywhere in the world. Please contact us and let us know how you’d like to get involved!

Internships

The Micro Insurance Academy also welcomes applications for internships. An internship with our organization can serve students and young professionals that are looking to gain international development experience and training while making a significant contribution to the communities at the bottom of the pyramid.

We encourage qualified undergraduates to apply, as well as graduate students and those between degrees. We welcome students who have studied disciplines related to our research and training work (insurance, economics, development studies, marketing, business administration etc.) but will also consider applicants without formal academic training that show a high potential for learning and a genuine commitment to helping poor communities.

As an intern, you’ll build a career in development, strengthen applications for graduate programs, and cultivate relationships with communities and NGOs. We also offer a stipend, or provide in-kind assistance with food and housing, whenever possible.

We would also gladly consider hosting academics wishing to spend part of their sabbatical leave performing groundbreaking research or fieldwork with the MIA.

Interested? Please contact us and let us know how you’d like to get involved!
