Mahashakti Foundation is a community based micro finance institution, working directly with poor and marginalized groups. It primarily emphasizes on delivering quality micro finance services for its clients. Mahashakti is MIA's partner in the successful roll-out of the Niramaya Health Protection Fund in Kalahandi District, one of the most difficult areas in the Indian state of Odisha (Orissa).
BAIF Development Research Foundation is a research and implementation partner of the MIA. After participating in the previous ECCP Research Project “Strengthening Micro Health Insurance Units for the Poor in India” (2004-2006), BAIF is now part of the EC-funded consortium “CBHI India” which will carry out implementation and research on community-based microinsurance.
Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT) has managed and implemented programmes for enhancing sustainable livelihood development, poverty reduction and empowering communities to manage resources in rural and tribal areas for the last one and a half decades. The initial research partnership will focus on migrating communities in the Madhya Pradesh District of Ratlam and its impact on implementation of microinsurance initiatives, an important area yet to be explored in the sector.

Population Foundation of India (PFI) is a non-governmental organisation which has played a central role for decades in India in influencing and informing the Central and State-level policies on issues of population stabilization. PFI is a partner of MIA since October 2009 in a USAID-funded project on Health of the Urban Poor (HUP).
SANGINEE is a client-owned, client-controlled SHG federation of women in Kalahandi district. It works in 345 villages to organise the poor into community-based institutions, building up their capacities for effective use of microfinance & business development services for their economic and social security. Sanginee is one of MIA's implementation partners in Orissa for the roll out of community-based micro health insurance schemes.
SHRAMIK BHARTI is a grassroots development organisation empowering the poor and underprivileged through structured initiatives in the fields of micro-finance, preventive healthcare and democratic local self-governance. Shramik Bhakti is part of the EC-funded consortium “CBHI India” which will carry out implementation and research on community-based microinsurance.
The MIA and Indian Grameen Services (the non-profit arm of BASIX) are collaborating to launch mutual and self-help based health insurance in Bihar. In this collaboration, the MIA will steward the creation, promotion and management of microinsurance schemes through training, technical assistance and on-the-ground partnerships.
The MIA is also working to promote community-based micro health insurance in Nepal since 2008, in collaboration with Save the Children. In 2009, the MIA has partnered with the the Development Project Service Centre (DEPROSC-Nepal) - a grassroots NGO present in more than 60% of Nepal, the Nirdhan Utthan Bank Limited - a MFI for the upliftment of the poor, and the Centre for Micro Finance, Nepal (CMF) in an effort to plan future implementation projects in the area. A quantitative and qualitative baseline survey has been carried out in the districts of of Dhading and Banke, Nepal.
The International Fund For Agricultural Development a specialised agency of the United Nations working against poverty and hunger the world over is jointly implementing with the Government of Meghalaya "The Livelihoods Improvement Project for the Himalayas" through the Meghalaya Rural Development Society (MRDS). The MRDS is implementing the project in 5 Districts of the state, i.e. Ri-Bhoi, East Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills.
Financial Access Initiative (FAI) is a consortium of researchers at NYU, Yale, Harvard and Innovations for Poverty Action, housed at NYU’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. FAI is focused on analyzing how access to financial services, including credit, savings and insurance, can better meet the needs of poor households. The MIA and the FAI are collaborating on a number of projects including research projects on microinsurance and the quality of healthcare, insurance education, and impact assessment.

Save the Children is a leading independent organisation creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. MIA and Save the Children (USA) have promoted a consortium to introduce microinsurance to resource-poor communities in Nepal. The MIA and Save the Children joined hands in 2008 to launch a community-based micro insurance project in Nepal, which will provide health, life and property insurance.
The Microinsurance Innovation Facility (MIF): Housed at the International Labour Organisation's Social Finance Programme, the Microinsurance Innovation Facility seeks to increase the availability of quality insurance for the developing world’s low-income families to help them guard against risk and overcome poverty. The MIA has collaborated with the MIF on a number of levels: providing technical assistance to its partners, hosting a Fellow (on an Impact Assessment project) as well as carrying out a project on Insurance Education (in collaboration with the Micro Insurance Network)
DGRV is the largest economic organization in Germany in terms of members with over 20 million associates. It works as both the apex and auditing association of the German cooperative organization and represents the concerns of all cooperative sectors in matters of economy, law and tax policy. DGRV and the MIA are partners in a multi-layered project tackling both sectoral development and an implementation roll-out.
GTZ, Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Technische Zusammenarbeit, is the German Technical Assistance Agency. GTZ is involved in numerous microinsurance projects around the globe and the MIA provides consultancy services to GTZ on specific microinsurance projects and in the area of social protection more broadly. Notable recent assignments included a desk study on microinsurance in Bangladesh, a study on integrating microinsurance into broader social protection systems, and a study on collective action.
The Microinsurance Network (MiN) is a member-based network of donor organisations, multilateral agencies, insurance and social protection providers, policymakers and academics. It provides a platform for information sharing and stakeholder coordination with the aim to promote the development and proliferation of insurance products for low-income persons. The MIA collaborates with the MiN on a number of projects, leads the Impact Assessment and Insurance Education Working Groups, and is an active member in several other Working Groups.
The Centre for microfinance (CmF) is a technical support agency for microfinance and particularly community based microfinance in Rajasthan, India. It works as nodal agency for the sectoral development in the region. The CmF and the MIA are partners for conducting case studies and conceptual work on livestock insurance.
