Grassroots partners
BAIF Development Research Foundation
is running a microinsurance pilot since 2003. BAIF is a research
partner of MIA and obtains technical assistance from MIA on an ad-hoc
basis.
The MIA and Indian Grameen Services (the non-profit arm of BASIX) are collaborating to launch mutual & self-help based health insurance in Bihar. In this collaboration, the MIA will steward the creation, promotion and management of micro insurance schemes through training, technical assistance and on-the-ground partnerships.
Technical Assistance Agencies & Network Institutions
GTZ, Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Technische Zusammenarbeit, is the German Technical Assistance Agency. GTZ is involved in numerous microinsurance projects around the globe and MIA provides consultancy services to GTZ. GTZ and MIA are currently running a joint research programme on collective action.
FICCI, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, runs an insurance team that also engages microinsurance research. FICCI was a partner in the project Strengtheninig Micro Health Insurance Units for the Poor in India, MIA's predecessor project in India.
PlaNet Finance is dedicated to the development of microfinance and information and communications technology. MIA and PlaNet Finance collaborate in the domain of microinsurance, with particular focus on South Asia.
Sa-Dhan is the umbrella organization of Indian microfinance institutions. Sa-Dhan works on advocacy and shaping policy, also in microinsurance. Sa-Dhan sponsored the international conference on microinsurance, which was organized by MIA's predecessor project in India and MIA staff delivered speeches on Sa-Dhan events.

Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Netherlands), Institute of Health Policy & Management, is a partner in research and funding proposals. The University was also a partner in MIA's predecessor project in India.
Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur, is a partner in research and funding proposals.
National Institutes of Health, USA, are partners of MIA in CHAT, Choosing Healthpans All Together. CHAT, which originally stems from the USA, was jointly modified for rural India.
University of Cologne Germany, Department for Cooperative Studies, is a partner in research and funding proposals. The University was also a partner in MIA's predecessor project in India.
Utkal University Bhubaneswar, Dpt. for Sociology, is a partner in research and funding proposals.
