ADVOCACY
Background
Promoting microinsurance as a solution to financial vulnerability and livelihood challenges is of high priority for the MIA. We aim to bring forward the agenda of understanding the value proposition of microinsurance for low-income communities.
Our Capacities
Our professional relationships with policy makers, academics, and development professionals, in combination with the motivation and passion of our staff members to make a difference in the lives of the world's poor, places us in an ideal position for advocacy work.
Our Approach
The MIA aims to inform key actors and fully disseminate research and project results. We promote collaboration between organisations with the aim of improving the flow of information and experiences to benefit every microinsurance initiative.
Action
The MIA is a founding member of the Micro Insurance Network and currently leads two of its dedicated Working Groups (MiN WG) on impact assessment and insurance education. We are also active in the areas of regulation, supervision, policy, technologies, and social protection. The MIA also uses multimedia (videos, songs and games) as a platform for advocacy initiatives, as well as policy briefs and conferences to generate awareness about microinsurance and its associated benefits.
